What I want my girls to know...

At different times of the day, in different places, I catch myself thinking....'that is something that I want my girls to know'. Little tidbits of experience and knowledge that I have gathered over my years....that I hope will help them know me better when they are grown women. My hope is that it helps them stand just a bit firmer in their our feet. Helps make their journeys the taddest bit easier knowing that mama went through it to. And if at all possible, help prevent them from making some of the painful choices I have made. Us women need to learn from each other. Share stories and legacy in a non-judgemental way. So every so often here I will be documenting just 'what it is I want my girls to know'. As this blog is bound in book style every year or so, I hope to document some of these memories. Then...maybe years from now, they will have a testimony of the lessons I want them to have learned from me :)

#1 Make time for getaways with your partner.

It is good for your mama spirit and for your marriage. You need that 1:1 time together...so you can have a long conversations without interruption, catch up on your sleep, and remember why you got married in the first place. Don't feel guilty! You are still a good mama. Actually, you will be a better mama, and wife. Hey...and Gogo (yes that will be me) will be MORE than happy to babysit :)

Your dad and I went away for the first time in 4 YEARS (yes that is right) this past weekend. I can't believe we waited that long. We definitely won't wait that long again. Her are some pics from our getaway at St. Annes :)

  1. I love this idea for your girls. I know the moments you speak of, and I would like to do the same for mine - great idea! I am so thrilled that you and Mark had a getaway - we did the same thing in June of this year (the first in 4 years too!) and wow, it was so good! I am just thrilled for you and think you are an awesome mama. Hugs.
