So, so, much work. Determination!
For so many babies, bringing their hands to their mouth happens with ease. If they are teething, they can knaw on their fingers to bring comfort. If they want to feed themselves, they can grasp food from their tray and bring it to their mouth. If they need that soothing sensation, they can suck their thumb. Not Bea. For Bea to successfully work her body parts, she was coordinate a series of relaxations and contractions all in the hopes of managing her tone. Her brain knows what she wants to do, but the body hasn't figured out how to manage the tone in all situations. So, we take baby steps with her. And celebrate her milestones.
This week...she managed to use the edge of her highchair as a lever to bring her hand to her mouth. We have been practicing this with her alot. Bringing her hand to her mouth so she can suck on her fingers. Holding it there. Creating a new pathway in her bring. So when we started to do it on her own in her highchair...this was BIG!!! She still has to figure out that once her hand gets to her mouth she needs to relax to keep it there. But...it will come. You can see the concentration on her face while trying to do it...and the joy once she achieves it!

What a sweet sweet girl! This just brings a huge smile to my face this morning. You must have the biggest Mommy glow to see milestones like this!
